[Continued from TFLN]
Michael wasn't sure what he was doing, driving out to the Valenti cabin because Alex asked him to. It didn't make sense, but, then, nothing had since he'd gotten the misfired text. He thumbed back through the texts to look at them again. hot guy...huge crush... He found himself going back to the "huge crush," piece in his head while he drove. Then? Now? Still? Why was Alex planning to seduce him? What had he learned? Was Michael just setting himself up for more heartbreak?
Probably. Alex did this, though, pulled him right back in, made him believe, and then walked away. So, why, again was he backtracking when he missed the turn, taking the right one, rather than heading back to Roswell?
Because he was stupid for Alex Manes, and probably a little bit masochistic.
It took longer than it should have, with the backtracking, but he finally saw the lights of the cabin and turned off into the drive, pulling up to the cabin and cutting the engine off. He could still turn around, go back, but he knew he wouldn't. He was too curious about what Alex wanted here of all places, too keen to know what it was he was talking about, and too desperate to see just how and why he was planning to seduce him.
Still, he kept thinking about turning around even as he found himself at the door, knocking lightly.

He doesn't reply because he's spotted Alex, and, yes, he's eager for whatever they end up doing, but he really is a tiny bit concerned Alex thinks he doesn't want people to know, like he's ashamed of it or something. He's a bit confused, still, because it's so new and nothing he had any inkling of he started noticing Alex, but he's not ashamed of it.
It's just...theirs. And in the Summer of Awful, he needs something good.
Still, his smile is bright with relief that Alex isn't really upset with him, as he pulls up next to him, and reaches across to open the passenger door.
"Wanna go for a ride?"

Michael was bone-deep tired and feeling a flood of both relief that they'd managed to find a way to keep Isobel alive and terror that they wouldn't be able to find a real solution. The last week had been brutal, an emotional roller coaster he hadn't been on since the summer of 2008. Now, he had hope, sure, but not enough to raise his mood. He dropped the sign off for Maria, then found himself staring at the symbol, thinking of beacons and what Max had said about him in the group home.
He was still thinking about it when he got back to the junkyard. Part of him wanted to head right back down to the bunker, see what he could come up with, but, after everything, he knew he was pushing the limits of even his endurance, emotional, physical and mental. He'd offered Liz far more trust than he'd ever given anyone, told her things he'd never even told Max or Isobel, shown her things he'd never shown anyone, and she'd come through. She'd figured out what he hadn't been able to, yet.
So, instead of shifting the Airstream, he went in and got a bottle of whiskey and a bottle of acetone, bringing them back out to the firepit. Getting the fire going, he settled back with the bottles switching between them as he studied the symbol sketched on the yellow paper in his hand and trying, desperately, to remember anything about it.
