"Yes, Doctor. What are you trying to do, take over Kyle's job?" Alex lips flicked into a small smile. It was almost sweet how Michael was trying to take care of him even though it was very obviously far from the first time he'd been injured. He almost felt dizzy when Michael stepped away. That and there was the small fact of why he'd hit the wall in the first place.

He could almost see the shuttered expression Guerin would get if Alex lied to him. Because any answer he could give would very obviously be a lie.

"You said you loved me," he said finally. "And I was just cursing fate. Or timing. And definitely my father."

He stepped back and shook his head. "But that's not why you're here. You should shut the door."
