The car was eerily quiet. Michael was...Alex wasn't sure what Michael was thinking. Alex was trying to figure out what, out in the middle of the desert, could heal Michael's hand. And then they were parking and Michael was asking for his help to get into some kind of cave.

"If I didn't know better, I'd say you were bringing me to your love shack." Or serial killer den. And he really didn't know Michael better, but he felt as if he did. And sure, they'd known each other by reputation for years, but they'd never been friends. Or anything else.
