Believing him was probably a stupid thing to do. Alex had no real idea what he was promising. But Michael did.

He had no idea how to say it, though. Just blurting it out seemed like a bad idea, at least if he wanted Alex to believe him.

He took a deep breath, then let it out slowly before nodding. “Okay. But this is something I gotta show you.”

He leaned in and kissed Alex, then clambered out of the truck bed and moved back to the driver’s side. “It’s not too far, but we should drive.”

Somehow the idea of the pods seemed less scary to start with than his telekinesis.
